Chilean fox tale wins Bucharest's radio-drama festival
The Spanish-language Chilean production La fábula del zorro cabezón (The Fable of the Big-Headed Fox) won first prize in the audio-fiction series category at Radio Romania's international radio-drama festival in Bucharest — the only Latin American work in the field.
Grand Prix Nova is the International Radio Theatre Festival organised by Radio Romania; its 14th edition ran in Bucharest from 14 to 20 June 2026, with 24 productions from 13 countries across three categories. The jury was coordinated by Verena Keysers, director of Berlin's Prix Europa.
First prize in the audio-fiction series category went to the Spanish-language Chilean piece La fábula del zorro cabezón. It is not the product of a radio station, a theatre or an audiobook company, but of independent Chilean creators — one of whom also runs a tech company. It was produced at the Fresco Fresco studio.
The 80-minute, song-filled family fable follows a curious fox and his friends as they face food shortages on a drought-stricken island; its themes are justice, solidarity and working together. The work will be released on Spotify in November, together with sixteen original songs.
